If you notice water near your chiller connections, don’t panic.
Almost all leaks are caused by installation issues, not defective parts — and most can be fixed quickly.
Is It a Leak or Just Condensation?
Moisture near fittings isn’t always a leak.
-
Cold surfaces can create condensation
-
During operation, condensation may drain normally through the system
-
This is expected behavior
Common Leak Causes & Fixes
1️⃣ Check O-Rings and Gaskets
-
Ensure all hoses and filter connections have O-rings installed
-
Check that the filter cup lid O-ring is not missing
2️⃣ Use PTFE Tape and Tighten Correctly
-
Wrap PTFE (Teflon) tape around threaded fittings
-
Tighten gently — do not overtighten
-
For long-term sealing, a non-hardening sealant like RectorSeal Blue+ may be used
3️⃣ Cold-Plunge-Grade Hose Design
Chiller X2 hoses are engineered specifically for ice bath use:
-
Inner layer: Food-grade platinum silicone
-
Outer layer: Food-grade platinum silicone
-
Reinforcement: Dual-layer polyester braid
-
Operating range: -60°C to +160°C
Even at extreme temperatures, cracking or aging is not a concern.
